We would like to introduce our newest girl Daisy. Not long after we lost Punkin to cancer, we received an email with a link to a Craigslist ad about a Dane in need of rescue. Once I contacted the family, I later learned that they were going to lose their home through foreclosure and could no longer keep Daisy.
Daisy was in luck because not only were we very active in rescuing Danes, we also still had an empty crate that Punkin left behind. We picked Daisy up from her previous home in May of 2008, but she never did make it to her foster home with the Louisiana Dane Rescue Group. She still sleeps in that vacant crate in our bedroom and will sleep there for the rest of her life. She now has her forever home.
Daisy is a natural eared, two year old fawn Great Dane that was perfect except for her bad attitude problem. Her previous family let her run and control their household. With this, she was very dominant and dog aggressive. Once she learned that in her new home with us, she needed to learn to respect and to follow rules, her attitude began to improve. We also had to get rid of those bossy lady hormones by having her spayed. Since then, she is fitting in perfectly and we know her and Manson are going to have many years of fun together.
Daisy now is a typical mellow Dane with a new and improved attitude that is becoming of a real classy lady. She has even earned her Canine Good Citizen award from the AKC as well as getting certified as a Therapy Dog by Therapy Dogs International.
